Medical escort options in Singapore
If your loved one needs someone with them at a medical appointment, Singapore has two kinds of help: the government-funded Medical Escort and Transport (MET) service, and private services like Meddy. They work quite differently. Here's an honest comparison to help you choose.
A government-funded service arranged through the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC). It can provide transport, such as wheelchair-accessible vehicles, and an escort during the appointment. You apply through a referral, and subsidies are means-tested.
A private service you book online. A healthcare-trained companion goes with your loved one to the appointment, stays with them throughout, and shares with you what the doctor said. No referral, no means test.

Good to know

According to AIC, MET is for people who have difficulty moving around on their own, and who have no caregiver, or whose caregiver can't help because of their own health or physical condition. Subsidies are means-tested. AIC or the medical social worker at the hospital can confirm eligibility.
Ask the doctor at the hospital or polyclinic your loved one attends to submit an application, or visit an AIC Link for help. You can also call the AIC hotline at 1800-650-6060.
