It started with my own aging mom. Like many parents, her biggest wish was simply never to be a burden.
But when her health declined, that quiet life was instantly replaced by the exhausting routine of hospital visits. Suddenly she was trapped in a world of complex medical jargon, and every single appointment felt completely overwhelming. During consultations, she would simply nod, even when she was completely clueless, and come home leaving the rest of our family guessing about her actual care plan.
She didn't want to ask questions. She just wanted to go home and rest.
My siblings and I tried our best to take turns accompanying her, but juggling our careers and our own families meant we couldn’t always be there. There were weeks when we were quietly hoping a sibling would step in first, and none of us were proud of that.
When I looked for help, every service asked for the same things: download an app, learn a new system, and commit to rigid tiers. But that wasn't what we needed. We just needed someone we could trust to sit with Mom next Tuesday, ask the questions she wouldn't, and tell us plainly what the doctor said.
That's why we built Meddy.
No complexity. No long-term commitments.
Just book a trusted companion when you need one. Every companion we send is a fellow Singaporean or PR who knows our hospitals, speaks your parent's language, and brings healthcare experience to the table.
If you're reading this, there's a good chance you know that feeling. The quiet guilt of a parent who won't ask for help, and the children who don't always know how to give it.
We built Meddy for families like ours. We hope it gives yours a little more breathing room, too.
